Job summary

Advance Training & Recruitment Services is recruiting a Principal Water Supply Technical Specialist for a public-sector client. The role focuses on water supply resilience, investment planning and regulatory delivery across Birmingham or London, with hybrid working.

The ideal candidate will lead complex technical analysis, review investment programmes, and provide policy and procedural guidance, coordinating internal teams and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in water sector with technical leadership on complex projects.
• Degree-level qualification in engineering, science or related discipline.
• Experience influencing decisions across organisational boundaries.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills; ability to lead complex analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise and direction across water supply and investment activities.
• Review delivery plans, investment programmes and performance data.
• Assess major water supply schemes for risks and costs.
• Develop benchmarking models and governance.
• Produce high-quality technical reports and recommendations.
• Collaborate with internal teams, water companies and regulators.
• Coordinate resources and share technical knowledge.
