Job summary

Sunderland City Council is seeking a Senior Environmental Services Technician in the Waste and Recycling Service. You will supervise the collection crew, drive vehicles up to 26 tonnes GVW, and ensure safe, efficient waste collection across the city.

Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence with Category C, a valid Driver CPC, and a digital tachograph card. Strong communication and adherence to policies are essential.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct the collection crew and ensure safety and wellbeing.
• Drive and operate refuse collection vehicles up to 26 tonnes GVW.
• Ensure the service delivery meets statutory and Council standards.
• Record operational information using handheld devices and communicate with colleagues.
• Work from multiple depots as required by service needs.
