Job summary

Selby Jennings is seeking a Senior Virtualization & Storage Engineer to lead design, scaling, and support of virtualisation and storage platforms across a global investment technology environment.

The role focuses on performance, reliability, automation, and capacity planning, partnering with infrastructure, platform, and engineering teams to deliver mission-critical solutions for research, trading, and business operations.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience building and evolving enterprise virtualization environments.
• Strong knowledge of VMware/Hyper-V/KVM and related technologies.
• Experience with SAN and storage protocols.
• Experience with software-defined storage platforms.
• Proven track record delivering large-scale infra transformations.
• Strong automation and scripting skills in Python or PowerShell.
• Excellent troubleshooting in mission-critical environments.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication.
• Degree in CS or related discipline advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Own and optimise enterprise virtualization and storage platforms.
• Drive infrastructure modernization initiatives via technology evaluations and planning.
• Research, design, and implement next-generation virtualization and storage solutions.
• Develop automation and tooling to improve operational efficiency, scalability, and resilience.
• Lead complex migration projects and collaborate with engineering teams to deliver infrastructure enhancements.
• Identify opportunities to improve performance, resource utilisation, and operational processes.
• Influence infrastructure strategy and help define best practices across the technology organisation.
