Job summary

Referment is partnering with a global investment and technology organisation to hire a Senior Virtualization and Storage Engineer. This senior individual-contributor role will own mature production platforms while shaping their next generation through evaluation, proof-of-concept work and carefully planned migration.

You’ll combine operational responsibility with long-range technical design across virtualization, enterprise storage and automation.

Qualifications

• Ten years of hands-on server virtualization in production.
• Expertise in VMware, Hyper-V or KVM; multi-platform experience valuable.
• Enterprise storage and SAN experience, including storage protocols and SDS.
• Python and PowerShell programming experience.
• The judgement to evaluate platform changes driven by cost, hardware or vendors.
• Strong communication, organisation and independent delivery skills.

This senior individual-contributor role will own mature production platforms while shaping their next generation through evaluation, proof-of-concept work and carefully planned migration.

You’ll combine operational responsibility with long-range technical design, working across virtualization, enterprise storage and automation. The opportunity is particularly suited to an engineer who can keep critical services reliable while leading complex platform evolution.

• Own and maintain production virtualization platforms and storage solutions, focusing on availability, performance and resource efficiency.

What We're Looking For

• At least ten years of hands-on experience building and supporting server virtualization in production.
• Deep expertise in VMware, Hyper-V or a KVM-based platform; experience across more than one is valuable.
• Enterprise storage and SAN experience, including storage protocols and at least one software-defined storage platform.
• Python and PowerShell programming experience.
• The judgement to evaluate platform change driven by hardware, cost or vendor considerations.
• Strong communication, organisation and independent delivery skills.

A computer science or related technical degree is preferred rather than essential. This could suit a senior virtualization, storage, platform or infrastructure engineer with a record of modernising business-critical environments.
