An established industry player is seeking a Senior Veterinary Surgeon to join their dynamic team in Sheffield. This full-time role offers a unique opportunity to work in a supportive environment with a focus on high standards of care for pets. You will be part of a passionate team that values work-life balance, providing flexible rota patterns and opportunities for professional development. With excellent facilities and resources at your disposal, you'll have the chance to make a significant impact on the lives of pets and their owners. Join a practice that prioritizes employee well-being and fosters a sense of community among its staff.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Veterinary Surgeon to join our team at White Cross Vets, Handsworth, Sheffield. This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week with the possibility of a Senior role for those with the experience, that are interested in taking the next step in their career.
We currently have 3.5 vets with a certificate holder in Small animal surgery and one in the process of an Oncology certificate.
The site is supported by colleagues at the Doncaster White Cross Vets branch by certificate holders in Internal Medicine and Dentistry. The Vets across both sites work closely with each other to advise and support on each other’s cases.
Our people are at the heart of everything that we do, that’s why we know that work-life balance is vital in supporting our people to be their best selves. Our flexible approach to rota patterns and working hours offers a balance that truly flexes with you and your lifestyle no matter what stage you are in your career.
Our full-time members of the team work 40 hours per week, over 4 days plus inclusion in the Saturday Rota, with TOIL. There are no requirements for OOH.
We are well supported by a team of 3 experienced RVN’s, a very experienced SVN and a fantastic VCA, moving into an SVN role later this year. Our front of house team of 3 are second to none and have a fantastic relationship with our clients and still somehow manage to keep all the Vets and nurses organised! As a team we like to work to very high standards of care for pets and clients, with 15 minute routine consultations, 30 minutes for more complex cases. We are passionate about teaching and enjoy being a training practice for SVN placements. Despite all the hard work and passion for pets we still find time for team building every month with our Wellbeing days we run in clinic, everything from arts and crafts to turning the prep room into a cinema.
Don’t take our word for it, here is what one of our team has to say:
‘Working at White Cross Vets Sheffield is a great position, the caseload is varied and clients are friendly and committed. There is a very high % of insured pets resulting in an excellent standard of care for pets and good job satisfaction. The group chat we have between the Sheffield and Doncaster branch vets is really useful for bouncing ideas around for tricky cases, having certificate holders in multiple fields is really helpful! The tools and toys we have available are excellent, the HT vista scanner and the Imagyst are excellent resources to assist in the role. Most importantly the team are friendly, supportive and fun to work with! The Wellbeing afternoons are always fun and relaxed and give an opportunity in clinic for some downtime and team building!’ - Rebecca Verity, Clinical Director
The practice is 15 minutes from the center of Sheffield with excellent transport links from the A1, M1 and M180. We are also located on a bus route to and from Sheffield.
Surgical suite, dental x-ray, fully equipped in-house lab, digital x-ray, high-quality ultrasound scanner, HT vista mass scanner, Imagyst cytology, 4 consulting rooms, dual stationed prep room, spacious car park and a very handy shop next door (we never run out of milk!). Happy to support further development of vets, i.e., certificates. In general, vets would be consulting for 2 days out of 4 with a surgery day and a ‘2nd ops’ shift day, though happy to support the applicant’s passions and interests and tailor the role to them, interests such as medicine, surgery, dentistry, teaching, etc. Admin time is provided each day for catch up on clinical notes, reporting of lab results, phoning clients, repeat prescriptions, etc. or just time to research and plan cases.
