Based in the scenic Angus and Aberdeenshire border, with a branch in the nearby coastal town of Montrose, our Tier 2 RCVS-accredited practice is known for its community-focused care and clinical excellence. We pride ourselves on a flexible working culture that supports both professional ambitions and personal well-being. Whether you're seeking to balance family life, pursue outdoor adventures, or continue developing your clinical interests, we’re here to support a rota that works for you
This permanent position offers a varied mix of consulting and operating, working up to 30 hours shared across a 3-day week with a 1:5 share of the weekend rota. Our out-of-hours services are covered externally by Vets Now in Aberdeen and Dundee, though we do provide in-house care for in-patients with our dedicated nursing team on-site around the clock when required.
While we are a first-opinion small animal practice, we’re committed to thorough case workups and supporting advanced clinical investigations in-house. We’re equipped with modern diagnostic and surgical tools, including digital radiography (standard and dental), ultrasound with cardiac probe, rigid and flexible endoscopy, and cold laser. Our on-site lab includes biochemistry, haematology, urinalysis, and cytology, and we’re preparing to introduce tabletop AI slide interpretation. The practice also features two operating theatres, a dental suite, imaging room, and separate wards for cats, dogs, ICU patients, and isolation cases.
You’ll be joining a close-knit team of 3 experienced vets, 5 RVNs, SVNs, capable VCAs, and a warm and efficient reception team who help keep our days running smoothly. We are also proud to be a Veterinary Nurse Training Practice, helping to guide the next generation of veterinary nurses. Our clinical team values collaboration, knowledge sharing, and open communication. We also work closely with local referral centres and benefit from regular visits from an orthopaedic surgeon for advanced surgical procedures. Professional development is actively encouraged and funded, including support for studying towards advanced qualifications or certificates.
Located just 30 minutes from Aberdeen and 40 minutes from Dundee, Laurencekirk is ideally placed for those who want access to both urban amenities and outdoor tranquillity. From local sandy beaches to rugged coastline, forest trails and the nearby Cairngorms National Park, there’s no shortage of opportunities to unwind and explore. Whether you're a nature lover, adventurer, or someone looking to enjoy a peaceful pace of life with excellent career prospects, you’ll find it here.
