Job description

Salary up to £65,000 DOE, Welcome Bonus up to £5,000 plus Relocation Allowance up to £5,000!

Robson Vets in Laurencekirk is looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and well-established team.

Based in the scenic Angus and Aberdeenshire border, with a branch in Montrose, our Tier 2 RCVS-accredited practice is known for community-focused care and clinical excellence. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a senior role where your experience and leadership will be highly valued.

A fulfilling and flexible role

We promote a flexible working culture supporting professional ambitions and personal well-being. Whether balancing family, outdoor pursuits, or clinical interests, we support a rota that works for you.

This permanent role involves a varied mix of consulting and operating, up to 30 hours shared across a 3-day week, with a 1:5 weekend rota share. Out-of-hours are covered externally by Vets Now in Aberdeen and Dundee; in-house care is provided for in-patients around the clock by our dedicated nursing team when needed.

Facilities that empower your clinical growth

As a first-opinion small animal practice, we support thorough case workups and advanced investigations with modern diagnostic and surgical tools, including digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, and cold laser. Our on-site lab features biochemistry, haematology, urinalysis, and cytology, with plans to introduce tabletop AI slide interpretation. Facilities include two operating theatres, a dental suite, imaging room, and separate wards for cats, dogs, ICU, and isolation cases.

A collaborative team culture

You will join a close-knit team of 3 vets, 5 RVNs, SVNs, capable VCAs, and a warm reception team. We are a Veterinary Nurse Training Practice, supporting the next generation. Our team values collaboration, knowledge sharing, and open communication, working closely with referral centres and benefiting from regular visits from an orthopaedic surgeon. We actively support professional development, including studying for advanced qualifications or certificates.

Laurencekirk - a place to call home

Located 30 minutes from Aberdeen and 40 minutes from Dundee, Laurencekirk offers urban amenities and outdoor tranquility. Enjoy local beaches, rugged coastline, forest trails, and nearby Cairngorms National Park—ideal for nature lovers and adventurers seeking a peaceful lifestyle with excellent career prospects.
