Job summary

Vets for Pets Colchester Referral Hospital is seeking an experienced veterinary ophthalmologist to lead and further develop our ophthalmology referral service. You will have real clinical autonomy and a say in future investments in equipment and service growth.

The role offers a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment with on-site support from Advanced Practitioners and an established nursing team, plus opportunities to mentor colleagues and deliver CPD for referring practices.

Qualifications

• ECVO/ACVO Diplomate or RCVS/EBVS Specialist in veterinary ophthalmology
• ECVO/ACVO residency-trained clinician
• RCVS Advanced Practitioner (or experienced certificate holder) in veterinary ophthalmology with significant referral experience

Responsibilities

• Lead the ophthalmology referral service and provide clinical autonomy over its direction.
• Mentor junior ophthalmologists, vets and nurses with an interest in ophthalmology and run CPD events for referring practices.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support a growing referral caseload including cataract surgery.
