Job summary

Bourne Veterinary Practice is seeking a Head Veterinary Nurse to provide senior clinical and professional leadership for the nursing team. The role focuses on setting nursing standards, governance, and developing a capable, confident nursing team, in a practice located near Canterbury, Kent.

The successful candidate will oversee nursing standards, lead governance activities, and work with the leadership team to shape culture and performance. 32-40 hours, diverse shifts, no OOH.

Qualifications

• Experienced and confident Registered Veterinary Nurse with leadership capability.
• Strong understanding of clinical governance and quality improvement.
• Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and support the nursing team to maintain high standards of patient care and professional conduct.
• Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, performance reviews and biannual appraisals.
• Organise and attend nursing and management meetings; participate in off-site management meetings.
• Support practice improvement initiatives and encourage team involvement in new projects.
• Plan and manage nursing rotas, holiday cover and input shifts into payroll.
