Job summary

Bourne Veterinary Practice in Bekesbourne, Canterbury, Kent, is seeking a knowledgeable Head Veterinary Nurse to join our team on a full‑time or part‑time basis. You will provide senior clinical and professional leadership for the nursing team and help deliver high‑quality patient and client care.

You’ll set nursing standards, drive governance, and develop a capable team, working with the practice leadership to shape culture, performance and ways of working.

Qualifications

• Registered Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS and current registration.
• Significant leadership experience in clinical practice.
• Proven ability to mentor nursing teams and drive governance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a nursing team of seven to maintain high standards of patient care.
• Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, performance reviews and biannual appraisals.
• Organise nursing and management meetings; some off-site monthly.
• Drive practice improvement initiatives and encourage team involvement in new projects.
• Plan and manage nursing rotas, holiday and sickness cover, inputting shifts into payroll.
