Job summary

Transport for London is seeking a Vehicles Engineer (Band 3) for the Bus Directorate to support the Bus Fleet Performance and safety assurance. Based in Southwark with hybrid working, you’ll deliver engineering services across the asset lifecycle, from specification to testing and support to operations.

You will bring a degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering and substantial experience in vehicle testing, safety standards, and mentoring staff within a large transport environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering or equivalent
• Knowledge of vehicle safety standards (UN-ECE, ISO) and testing
• Experience in vehicle systems engineering and risk-based approaches

Responsibilities

• Ensure continuous bus fleet safety and reliability improvements
• Provide specialist technical services to TfL's Bus Directorate
• Lead and mentor team members; support enhancement projects
• Represent TfL interests with external bodies and regulators
