Diamond Light Source in Harwell, Oxfordshire, seeks a Senior Vacuum Electrical Technician for a 3-year fixed-term, onsite position. You will provide electrical support for vacuum systems, including design reviews, testing, and calibration of vacuum instrumentation across accelerators and beamlines.
You will lead and train staff, develop procedures, and ensure safety when wiring, testing and fault-finding LV/HV electrical systems.
As standard this role requires a fully onsite working arrangement.
Diamond Light Source is the UK’s national synchrotron science facility. By accelerating electrons to near light-speed, Diamond generates brilliant beams of light from infra-red to X-rays which are used for academic and industry research and development across a range of scientific disciplines including structural biology, physics, chemistry, materials science, engineering, earth and environmental sciences.
We now have an opportunity for a Senior Vacuum Electrical Technician to provide vacuum systems electrical support, guidance and planning to the Diamond Project for a 3-year fixed term contract.
This role will contribute directly to the construction, testing, installation, commissioning, servicing and fault finding, repair and calibration of the Diamond vacuum instrumentation and associated systems including cabling, vacuum controllers and ancillary equipment such as pump carts, bakeout equipment and vacuum laboratory equipment
Key responsibilities will include:
You will hold an appropriate ONC/OND/City & Guilds Electrical/Electronic qualification or similar level in a relevant subject.
