Job summary

Diamond Light Source in Harwell, Oxfordshire, seeks a Power Electronics Engineer / Senior Power Supplies Technician for a 3-year fixed-term appointment. You will support both the Diamond-II upgrade and existing accelerator power converters, testing, installing, commissioning and fault-finding power supply systems.

You should bring a relevant engineering qualification or equivalent experience, hands-on lab and site testing skills, and the ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with power supplies and power electronics.
• Ability to read electrical drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Experience with lab, workshop, and site-based testing and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Support safe and reliable operation of existing accelerator power converters and delivery of new magnet power supplies.
• Test, install, commission and hand over power supply systems and assemblies.
• Assist Diamond-II delivery through equipment build, integration testing and commissioning readiness.
• Diagnose and repair faults at component or module level and contribute to reliability improvements.
• Prepare test equipment, documentation and procedures for maintenance and installations.
• Engage with procurement, supplier liaison and quality assurance during equipment delivery.
