Job summary

Hastings Direct in the United Kingdom seeks an experienced Lead UX/UI Designer to drive end-to-end design from discovery to delivery, shaping product experiences across digital insurance platforms.

You will manage and develop a high-performing design team, collaborate with product and engineering, and translate user needs into intuitive flows, wireframes, and prototypes. The role emphasizes usability testing and AI-enabled design workflows.

Qualifications

• Experienced in designing digital products, ideally within consumer, fintech, or insurance sectors.
• Natural leader with experience managing and developing high performing design teams.
• Proficient in industry-standard design and AI tools such as Figma and Copilot.
• Strong collaborator with cross-functional team experience.
• Portfolio demonstrating user-centred design processes and outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end UX/UI design from discovery through prototyping, delivery and improvement.
• Manage, coach and develop a high performing team of Product Design professionals.
• Partner with product and technical teams to align user needs, business objectives and technical requirements.
• Create user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity designs and interactive prototypes.
• Conduct usability testing and data-driven analysis to validate concepts.
• Simplify complex insurance processes into intuitive journeys and present solutions to stakeholders.
• Integrate AI into design workflows and advocate for evidence-based design decisions.
