Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Locum Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedics with a subspecialty interest in Upper Limb (Shoulder & Elbow). The post is based at Basildon Hospital, offering 10 sessions per week and a 1:12 on‑call commitment.

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent.
• Entry on GMC Specialist Register; eligible for entry on Register or within six months of receipt of CCT at time of interview.
• Evidence of completion of specialist training or equivalent.
• An appropriate higher surgical Trauma and Orthopaedic surgical qualification (e.g. FRCS).

Responsibilities

• Provide expert clinical care for upper limb orthopaedics including elective, trauma and musculoskeletal infection cases.
• Participate in ward rounds, outpatient clinics, fracture clinics, elective theatre lists and trauma theatre sessions.
• Lead and support clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and risk management activities.
