About the Role

After significant expansion investing over £100 million in three years, we seek an experienced Senior Underwriter to join our team. This pivotal role involves working directly with our Managing Director and Head of Finance to promote underwriting excellence.

This fast-paced, rewarding role offers exposure across the entire business and opportunities for growth and learning from our senior management team.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and evaluate loan applications, including financial documents, credit histories, property valuations, and other relevant data.
• Assess risks considering borrower creditworthiness, loan-to-value ratios, and property values.
• Make underwriting decisions—approve, deny, or conditionally approve loans—based on our standards.
• Present loan recommendations to credit and investment committees.
• Ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and industry standards during underwriting.
• Collaborate with borrowers, brokers, the Originations team, and stakeholders to gather information and provide updates.
• Develop and refine underwriting processes as we grow.
• Guide and develop junior team members.

What We’re Looking For

• At least 5 years of relevant Real Estate experience, ideally within bank or non-bank Real Estate Finance, with an interest in Property Development. Residential RE experience is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, excellent numeracy skills, and risk identification ability.
• Understanding of KYC/AML, Credit Referencing, Land Registry reports, RICS Valuations, and Property and Contract law.
• Ability to handle high workflow volumes and prioritize tasks.
• Excellent communication skills and stakeholder relationship building.
• Strong project management skills, with experience in operational efficiency and initiative management.
