This role will be based in London, UK, and you are required to have the necessary right to work details prior to application.
To negotiate, underwrite, and develop a profitable portfolio of Power & Renewables business and offer outstanding service to our brokers and customers. To play a key role in supporting The Hartford’s stated aim of being The Insurer of the Transition.
Job Responsibilities
- Use granted underwriting authority to support the delivery of the Power & Renewables business plan. Assist in producing the annual business plan and actively contribute to the strategic direction of the portfolio.
- Develop and research business opportunities through London Market brokers and Hartford International Offices.
- Use technical expertise to select and underwrite profitable new opportunities for the portfolio and ensure the retention of existing clients.
- Work with engineering to analyze account risk management features, benchmark sectors and technologies, and stay updated on industry developments.
- Keep informed of individual claims and trends within the portfolio and liaise with the claims team to ensure appropriate settlement, including lessons learned with claims and engineering teams.
- Ensure compliance with The Hartford’s underwriting policies, controls, and Lloyd’s regulations at all times.
- Assist in developing systems for monitoring and reporting aggregate exposures.
- Support the development and review of technical pricing models.
- Support monthly reporting to management on Power and Renewables market developments, including detailed portfolio updates.
- Contribute to quarterly and annual underwriting results reports.
- Participate in various committees, such as underwriting, engineering, operations, and risk management.
- Mentor and educate junior team members as needed.
- Support thought leadership through participation in conferences and client events.
Qualifications & Capabilities
- Deep knowledge of Power Generation and Renewable Energy sectors.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Team-oriented with the ability to work independently.
- Effective communication skills.
- Experience in improving internal processes.
