Job summary

AIG in London is seeking a Senior Underwriter to join the Casualty UK team and help grow our Risk Managed portfolio. You will underwrite new and renewal business, build broker relationships, and tailor coverage to large complex clients.

The role emphasizes strong technical underwriting, risk assessment, and collaboration with senior management to deliver profitable growth while maintaining AIG's service standards and governance.

Qualifications

• ACII qualification or working towards (or equivalent).
• Excellent knowledge of Casualty underwriting principles and practice.
• Excellent knowledge of Liability products and regulatory requirements.
• Proven general underwriting experience in Casualty lines.
• Strong risk analysis and technical underwriting skills.
• Ability to build relationships with brokers and senior management.

• Underwrite new and renewal business within the Casualty team.
• Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and clients.
• Prepare bespoke policy documentation and manage pricing strategies.

AIG underwriting teams help to find insurance solutions in areas including Financial Lines, Property, Casualty, Specialty Lines, Cyber, Multinational Clients, and High Net Worth individuals. Purpose of the role:

To contribute to the business by underwriting new and renewal business, developing and maintaining relationships with new and existing brokers, building strong client relationships and working to carry out agreed strategies within the General Casualty team. The main focus will be within the Risk Managed area of the Portfolio which captures large and complex clients who tailor coverage limits, deductibles and risk-engineering services to match the company's specific risk appetite.

How you'll make an impact:

• Ensure that AIG procedures are consistently implemented.
• Maintain AIG standards and service levels.
• Prepare bespoke policy documentation.
• Maintain focus on industry practices, developments and pricing.
• Produce accurate and timely management information for senior management.
• Underwrite and service risks to an acceptable AIG standard.
• Develop a profitable book of business through a selection of brokers.
• Make informed underwriting decisions within the authority delegated.
• Assist less experienced underwriters in the team and support training and development.
• Produce files for Self-Audits to the agreed AIG Casualty standards.

What you'll need to succeed:

• Ideally ACII qualified or working towards (or equivalent).
• Excellent knowledge of Casualty underwriting principles and practice.
• Excellent knowledge of Liability products.
• Proficient knowledge of key regulatory requirements.
• Proven general underwriting experience, preferably in Casualty lines.
• Excellent risk analysis and technical skills.
• Ability to build relationships with brokers and senior management.
