Job summary

Barclays is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - UI Platform Lead in Glasgow to design, develop, and improve the shared UI platform behind Barclays digital experiences. You will lead efforts to deliver tokens, patterns, and tooling through APIs and integrations, enabling multiple platform teams and external tools.

The role emphasizes building an AI-native UI platform, with focus on token architectures, platform tooling, and secure, scalable software delivery across Barclays digital experiences.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with React and TypeScript in a library/platform context.
• Design token architectures and the tooling that transforms tokens across platforms.
• Experience building integrations between a platform and external tools (design tools, code editors, CI pipelines).
• Java and Spring for API services, or Node.js for tooling and build pipelines.
• Experience with generative or AI-assisted developer tools, whether building them or integrating them into a platform.

Responsibilities

• Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions using industry aligned languages and tools.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements and strategies.
• Participate in code reviews and promote code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of tech trends and contribute to technology communities.
