Job summary

AJ Bell in London is seeking an experienced UX/UI designer to join our design system initiative. You will create and document components in Figma, emphasizing interaction design, accessibility, and reusable tokens across platforms.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior designers, and help steer design decisions with a focus on WCAG compliance and usability. A proactive, communicative mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience in a UX/UI role.
• Solid understanding of front-end practices and atomic design principles.
• Excellent knowledge of Figma, including auto layout, components, variables, and library management.
• Confident communication skills and ability to give/receive feedback.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities.
• Collaborative and iterative mindset.
• Good understanding or experience of designing with WCAG or A11y guidelines.
• Nice to have: knowledge of Widgetbook, desire to mentor and guide junior members of the team, understanding of user psychology.

Responsibilities

• Create design system components in Figma, demonstrating a strong understanding of interaction design and UI best practices;
• Produce high-quality, responsive UI designs that balance usability and accessibility;
• Produce component documentation and manage design tokens;
• Approach situations through a design systems lens, considering the reusability of design elements;
• Contribute to the design system strategy across platforms and support decision-making at the team level;
• Collaborate cross-functionally and nurture team collaboration;
• Make informed decisions during the design process balancing user needs, business considerations, and accessibility compliance;
• Communicate ideas and rationale to team members and stakeholders.
