Job summary

Venn Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for UAV systems in Hampshire. The role focuses on designing UAV airframes, integrating propulsion, power, sensors, and flight-control components, and advancing prototypes to manufacture.

The ideal candidate will have strong Fusion 360 CAD skills, hands-on prototyping experience, and knowledge of UAV architecture, including ArduCopter/Betaflight. SC clearance eligibility is beneficial for this position.

Qualifications

• Professional experience designing UAVs, drones or comparable unmanned systems.
• Strong 3D CAD and mechanical-design capability; Fusion 360 specifically.
• GVC (Line of Sight Certificate) and related UAV knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Design UAV airframes, payload structures and mechanical assemblies.
• Create 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings and BOMs.
• Select and integrate propulsion, power, sensor and flight-control components.
• Build and improve prototypes using modern manufacturing techniques.
• Support electronics installation, wiring and systems integration.
• Participate in ground testing, flight trials and fault investigation.
• Work with software, electronics, software and production teams.
• Support transfer of prototypes into low-volume manufacture.
• Progress designs from concept into manufacture.
