Job summary

Clark Wood is seeking an experienced Trusts Senior to join its Private Client Tax team in Newcastle. You will manage a portfolio of trusts and estates, acting as a key contact for clients, trustees and intermediaries, and prepare tax returns, accounts and related calculations.

The role offers a path for career development within a growing team, with exposure to complex trust work and ongoing training. Applicants should have relevant qualifications and 2+ years' experience in trusts & estates tax

Qualifications

• Qualified or working towards AAT/ATT/CTA; or equivalent experience.
• At least two years' experience in Trusts & Estates tax compliance.
• Experience in accountancy or legal practice.
• Knowledge of Inheritance Tax, CGT and Income Tax for trusts and estates.
• Understanding of Trust Registration Service (TRS) requirements.
• Strong client relationships and communication.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet multiple deadlines.
• Proactive, commercial approach to issues and opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of trusts and estates and serve as main client contact.
• Prepare trust and estate accounts, tax returns, IHT forms and related calculations.
• Advise on trust administration, distributions, tax payments and wind-ups.
• Assist with succession and estate planning projects.
• Liaise with HMRC on compliance matters.
• Identify tax planning opportunities and escalate as needed.
• Ensure risk and compliance procedures are followed during onboarding.
• Keep up to date with trust and estate legislation and HMRC practice.
• Support process improvements and implementation of changes.
