Job summary

CMD Recruitment is seeking a Trials Conducting Officer for a permanent, full-time role on Salisbury Plain, south of Devizes. The role involves planning, preparation, and safe delivery of trials involving explosives, ordnance and munitions, with strict safety and regulatory compliance.

You will lead trial activities, develop risk and safety documentation, coordinate logistics, liaise with customers, operate specialist test equipment and analyse data to produce precise reports.

Qualifications

• Significant practical experience in a military, explosives, ammunition or safety-critical environment.
• Possession of an explosive disposal or ammunition qualification (Class One/UNMAS EOD).
• Experience firing, testing or evaluating explosives, munitions or ordnance.
• Strong knowledge of ammunition systems and range procedures.
• Experience in safety-critical settings and supervisory roles.
• Ability to interpret technical data and produce detailed reports.

Responsibilities

• Lead and conduct trials involving explosives, ordnance and munitions.
• Develop detailed trial plans, risk assessments and safety documentation.
• Plan trial logistics, equipment, instrumentation, materials and data capture.
• Liaise with customers and stakeholders throughout planning and delivery.
• Operate and evaluate specialist test equipment; investigate failures.
• Analyse test data and produce technical reports and recommendations.
• Ensure work complies with quality, safety and regulatory requirements.
• Supervise students, contractors and other personnel on trials and range activities.
• Support technical development, testing, research and training activities.
