Job summary

Somerset Council is seeking a Senior Travel Plan Implementation Officer to coordinate and deliver travel planning activities for communities across Somerset. You will lead on travel demand management, behaviour change initiatives and ensure alignment with the Local Travel Plan to reduce car use and promote sustainable transport.

You will collaborate with stakeholders, local authorities, and developers, delivering measurable travel pattern changes.

Qualifications

• Experience developing travel plans for new or existing communities.
• Ability to coordinate with developers, local authorities and communities.
• Understanding of highways planning conditions and Section 106 obligations.
• Strong data analysis to inform interventions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver travel planning activities in new and existing communities.
• Lead travel demand management and behaviour change initiatives.
• Recommend programmes to achieve plan targets and resource needs.
• Manage an activity budget and monitor spend.
• Organise community events and annual travel surveys.
• Conduct site visits to monitor plan implementation.
