Job description

Join to apply for the Senior Planner role at Octavius Infrastructure.

Octavius Infrastructure is appointed by Network Rail to the North-West and Central (NW&C) Capital Delivery Framework for Major Projects in Control Period 7. The company has secured a place on Lot A2, covering multi-discipline projects valued between £7 million and £50 million, including building, civils, and railway engineering.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Planner to support these projects, starting with Cottam Parkway Station, a new station on the Blackpool to Preston line.

This is a hybrid role based at Network Rail's office at Manchester Piccadilly Station.

Responsibilities include:

1. Develop, produce, and update programmes for multiple projects.
2. Collaborate with estimators and the delivery team to create commercially attractive programmes.
3. Identify and evaluate project risks related to planning and overall project execution.
4. Ensure compliance with legislative, company, and client policies within the governance framework.
5. Build relationships with other teams to share resources, innovations, and processes for efficient delivery.
6. Seek and implement more efficient methods to achieve project outcomes.
7. Prioritize safety, health, wellbeing, environment, and sustainability in decision-making.
8. Participate actively in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

Candidate Requirements:

• Knowledge of Civil Engineering with relevant experience, preferably in Rail infrastructure.
• Proficiency in planning software (e.g., MS-Project, Asta Powerproject, P6 Primavera).
• Ability to plan from first principles.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Good understanding of NEC4 contract and its application to project planning.
• Understanding of construction design processes.

Qualifications and Experience:

• A degree, diploma, or vocational qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Relevant planning courses completed.
• Experience working with tier one civil engineering contractors.
