Job summary

White Recruitment Construction in Bognor Regis is seeking a Senior Transport Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day transport activity, support the Transport Manager, and drive improvements in systems and efficiency.

You will lead drivers, manage operations, ensure compliance with drivers’ hours and transport legislation, and implement new transport systems and KPI-driven improvements.

Senior Transport Operations Manager
Bognor Regis

This is a key senior role within a fast‑paced operation, working closely with the Transport Manager to oversee day‑to‑day transport activity while helping to improve systems, processes and operational efficiency as the business continues to grow.

The Role:

You will be responsible for supporting the management of a busy operation

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and supporting a team of drivers
• Managing day‑to‑day transport operations and resolving issues as they arise
• Ensuring compliance with drivers’ hours, tachographs, Operator Licence requirements and transport legislation
• Overseeing health & safety, incident investigations and risk assessments
• Managing agency drivers and subcontractors
• Monitoring vehicle, driver and operational performance
• Supporting the Transport Manager and providing cover when required
• Improving processes and introducing more efficient ways of working
• Supporting the implementation of new transport systems, technology and automation
• Using KPIs and operational data to identify opportunities for improvement
• Participating in an out-of-hours and weekend on-call rota

About You:

We are looking for an experienced transport professional with a strong background in road haulage, fleet operations or transport management. A real opportunity to grow and shape the operation.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience as a Transport Manager, Operations Manager, Traffic Manager or similar
• Transport Manager CPC – National & International
• Strong knowledge of Operator Licence requirements and UK transport legislation
• Experience managing drivers within a busy transport operation
• Knowledge of drivers’ hours, tachographs and WTD
• Strong health & safety and compliance knowledge
• Experience managing subcontractors and agency drivers
• A hands‑on, calm and solutions‑focused approach
• Experience improving processes, systems or transport operations

Experience within specialist, time‑critical, events or complex transport operations would be an advantage.
