About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Transport Manager to join our Operations team in Crawley.
This is a key role responsible for the day-to-day management, compliance and performance of a fleet of 30+ vehicles, ensuring the operation runs safely, efficiently and cost-effectively.
Reporting to the Head of Logistics, you will lead and support the transport team, drive operational performance and ensure the business continues to meet all Operator Licence, legal and company compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operation of a fleet of 30+ vehicles, maximising utilisation and efficiency.
- Maintain Operator Licence compliance, fleet records and all relevant regulatory requirements.
- Manage route planning, balancing operational efficiency with driver welfare..
- Manage costs, resource planning and third-party suppliers, including invoice checking and verification.
- Monitor KPIs and provide regular operational and financial updates to senior management.
- Manage PCNs, fines, charges and tolls.
- Conduct internal audits and prepare compliance reports.
- Ensure drivers maintain appropriate training and qualifications, including CPC and safety training.
- Work closely with Operations and other teams to identify and deliver continuous improvement initiatives.
- Build strong working relationships with maintenance providers and suppliers.
About You
You will be an experienced transport professional with a strong understanding of UK transport legislation, fleet compliance and logistics planning.

- Confident managing fleet operations and transport compliance.
- A strong leader and communicator who can motivate and engage a team.
- Highly organised, commercially aware and comfortable working under pressure.
- A proactive problem solver with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Confident analysing operational data and using it to make informed decisions.
- Experienced with route planning and fleet management systems.
Essential Requirements
- Valid Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in Road Transport.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Proven experience in transport management and logistics planning.
- Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation and compliance.
- Experience managing route planning and fleet management software.
- Experience implementing and maintaining health and safety procedures.
Desirable
- IOSH qualification.
- Experience with Descartes or similar routing software.
- Experience with digital fleet management.
- Knowledge of NetSuite ERP.
