Job summary

Sainsbury’s in the UK is seeking a Senior Planner to lead the Primary planning team at Crick, driving the transport plan and continuous improvements to meet customer expectations. You’ll ensure efficient, safe and reliable delivery across the network.

You’ll manage a team, delegate, and develop talent while coordinating with other departments to optimise planning KPI targets and backhaul opportunities. Strong communication and problem-solving are essential.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate attention to detail with strong planning and time management.
• Ability to delegate effectively while guiding a team or work autonomously as required.
• Proven problem-solving capabilities and lateral thinking for transport planning.
• Sound understanding of Health & Safety implications on site and safe working practices.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across departments and customers.

Responsibilities

• Review daily transport plan and implement changes for improvements.
• Motivate and appraise the Planning team to meet targets.
• Identify trends and adjust plans for upcoming events.
• Manage driver and trailer resources for efficient operations.
• Deliver planning KPIs and maintain a consistent standard.
• Secure backhaul work from suppliers.
• Coordinate with other departments and customers to ensure alignment.
