Job summary

Westmorland and Furness Council is seeking a Senior Traffic Management Technician to join the Traffic Management Service. The role covers designing and delivering road safety and traffic schemes across Westmorland and Furness, including TROs, site investigations and data analysis.

Qualifications

• Has experience in traffic management, road safety, highways, transport planning or a related discipline.
• Holds a relevant technical, vocational or professional qualification, or can demonstrate equivalent experience.
• Has experience developing and delivering traffic management or highway improvement schemes.
• Can interpret and apply relevant legislation, standards and guidance.

Responsibilities

• Designing, developing and delivering traffic management, parking and road safety schemes.
• Preparing and processing Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) and associated statutory procedures.
• Undertaking site investigations, surveys and technical assessments.
• Analysing traffic, parking and collision data to support scheme development and decision-making.
• Preparing technical reports, drawings, works packages and other supporting documentation.
• Providing technical advice and guidance on traffic management, road safety and highway standards.
• Liaising with contractors, stakeholders, elected members and members of the public.
• Supporting the planning, delivery and monitoring of projects to achieve agreed objectives and timescales.
