Job summary

Biffa Group in St Albans is seeking a Senior Traffic Dispatcher to oversee day-to-day depot operations, allocate vehicles and plan basic routing to ensure top-tier service delivery.

You will maintain health and safety standards, ensure environmental and O-licence compliance, manage staff, and coordinate training, with a Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm schedule and a salary up to £35,000.

Qualifications

• Experience of a position of similar responsibility in Services or Logistics industry.
• Experience of managing in a labour intensive, multi-shift environment is ideal.
• Local geographical knowledge.
• Experience of first line operational management.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day staff operations to ensure top-tier service delivery.
• Optimize routes and disposal outlets for maximum vehicle and facility efficiency.
• Ensure driver availability and coverage in line with legal and company guidelines.
• Handle administrative duties, including inputting pay, bonuses, and disposal data.
• Oversee vehicle management, ensuring safe operations and compliance with weight regulations.
• Monitor daily vehicle availability and ensure drivers complete pre-shift checks.
• Support cost control by identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce expenses.
• Complete all dispatch office admin tasks, including timesheets, tachograph records, and payroll.
• Work with the Depot Manager to ensure mandatory training and inductions are completed.
