Job summary

Biffa Waste Services in St Albans is seeking a Senior Traffic Dispatcher to manage daily depot operations, allocate vehicles, and schedule routes to ensure top‑tier service and compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.

You will monitor driver coverage, oversee vehicle checks, input payroll data and collaborate with the Depot Manager on training and inductions, while driving cost efficiency and consistent route performance.

Qualifications

• Experience of a position of similar responsibility in Services or Logistics industry.
• Experience of managing in a labour intensive, multi-shift environment is ideal.
• Local geographical knowledge.
• Experience of first line operational management.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day staff operations to ensure top-tier service delivery.

• Monitor daily vehicle availability and ensure drivers complete pre-shift checks.
• Support cost control by identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce expenses.
• Complete all dispatch office admin tasks, including timesheets, tachograph records, and payroll.
• Work with the Depot Manager to ensure mandatory training and inductions are completed.

The Senior Traffic Dispatcher is responsible for managing the day to day organisation of operations in the depot through the allocation and basic routing of vehicles. You will ensure best in class service delivery to customers, ensuring health & safety standards are maintained, and ensuring environmental and O licence compliance.
