Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking an experienced Senior Consultant to support town planning and consenting on major infrastructure projects. You will join our team delivering high-profile projects and advising clients on planning strategies.

The role requires a degree in town planning, RTPI membership, and a proven track record securing consent under the Town and Country Planning Act and related regimes. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, mentor colleagues, and manage client relationships

Qualifications

Degree level qualification in town planning (or equivalent).
Member of the RTPI.
Experience securing consent for major or nationally significant infrastructure projects under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, Planning Act 2008, Transport and Works Act Order and related legislation.

Responsibilities

Manage or lead aspects of town planning or consenting inputs on major infrastructure projects.
Provide technical advice to clients and manage their consenting requirements.
Coordinate the preparation and submission of consent applications under the Town and Country Planning Acts, the Planning Act 2008, or other applicable regimes.
Support negotiations with statutory bodies and stakeholders on behalf of clients.
Lead engagement with multidisciplinary teams, providing technical oversight.
Actively contribute to achievement and build positive relationships within project and discipline teams.
Proactively develop personal knowledge and skills to build the team’s internal knowledge base.
Maintain a solid understanding of project finances and project management, ideally within a consultancy environment.
Line manage and mentor colleagues in their work and project delivery roles.
