Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR in London is seeking a Senior Town Planner to join a multidisciplinary consultancy delivering planning services across sectors. The role focuses on strategic and detailed planning advice, managing applications, and coordinating teams.

The successful candidate will hold a RTPI accredited degree, be Chartered or working towards RTPI membership, and bring extensive experience in planning consultancy. Strong communication, organisation and stakeholder engagement are essential.

Qualifications

• RTPI Accredited degree in Town Planning or related discipline.
• Chartered or currently working towards RTPI membership.
• Experience in planning consultancy, developer, architectural practice or related environment.
• Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and development management process.
• Experience managing planning applications from inception through to determination.
• Experience across commercial, industrial, logistics, employment or mixed-use development is advantageous.
• Ability to develop clear, commercially realistic planning strategies.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and external consultants.
• Confident dealings with local planning authorities and stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational and project management abilities.
• Ability to work independently while contributing within a team.
• Commercially minded approach and understanding of clients' objectives.

Responsibilities

• Providing strategic and detailed planning advice to clients and project teams.
• Undertaking planning appraisals and identifying development opportunities and constraints.
• Developing and implementing planning strategies for a range of development projects.
• Managing the preparation and submission of planning applications, including full, outline and hybrid applications.
• Coordinating multidisciplinary project teams and external consultants.
• Liaising and negotiating with local planning authorities and other stakeholders.
• Managing planning conditions, amendments, variations and related submissions; supporting and, where appropriate, leading planning appeals.
• Advising on Section 106 agreements and associated planning obligations.
• Preparing representations in relation to development plans and emerging planning policy.
• Supporting the promotion of sites through the plan-making process.
