Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Planner or Senior Planner to join our Planning team in Cambridge. You will work on a range of strategic planning, development and infrastructure projects, guiding applications from feasibility through to consent.

You will collaborate with engineers, environmental services and other specialists to deliver integrated solutions. As a Senior Planner you will mentor junior colleagues and take increasing responsibility for project management and client relationships, contributing

Qualifications

• Degree in Town Planning or related discipline (ideally with MRTPI).
• Experience in a planning consultancy, local authority or developer environment.
• Good understanding of the UK planning system and development management.
• Strong report writing and analytical skills are essential.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and managing planning applications for a wide range of development projects.
• Contributing to strategic planning and plan making projects regionally and nationally.
• Producing planning appraisals, reports, planning statements and supporting documentation.
• Providing planning advice to clients throughout the development process.
• Undertaking policy research and monitoring changes in planning legislation and guidance.
• Managing project programmes and supporting delivery to timescales and budgets.
• Collaborating with colleagues across technical disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.
• Building relationships with clients, local authorities and stakeholders.
• Supporting business development activities and proposals where appropriate.
• For Senior Planner applicants, mentoring junior team members and increasing project management responsibility.
