Job summary

Energy Jobline CVL is working with an established planning consultancy in Cardiff to appoint a Senior Town Planner on a permanent basis. The role involves managing a varied caseload of planning projects across Wales and the UK, with direct client contact and liaison with planning authorities and consultants.

You will contribute to planning applications, policy advice, and development opportunities, while supporting appeals and attending site visits.

We are currently working with an established and highly regarded town planning and development consultancy in Cardiff who are looking to appoint a Senior Town Planner on a permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planner to join a growing consultancy working across a diverse portfolio of development projects throughout Wales and the wider UK.

The business provides commercially focused planning and development advice across a broad range of sectors, including residential, commercial, leisure, tourism, heritage and strategic development. Their work ranges from planning applications and appeals through to major development projects, regeneration schemes, policy work and complex multi-disciplinary projects.

The Role

As a Senior Town Planner, you will take responsibility for managing a varied caseload of planning projects, working closely with clients, local planning authorities and other professional consultants.

• Managing planning applications and projects from inception through to determination.


• Preparing and reviewing planning statements, reports, representations and other planning documentation.


• Advising on planning policy and development opportunities.


• Liaising with local planning authorities, statutory consultees and other stakeholders.


• Supporting and managing planning appeals where required.


• Attending meetings, site visits and stakeholder discussions.


• Assisting with the promotion and delivery of strategic development sites.


• Managing client relationships and contributing to the continued growth of the business.

We are looking for an experienced planning professional who is confident managing projects and dealing directly with clients and stakeholders.

You will ideally have:

• Several years' experience within town planning, either in consultancy or a relevant planning environment.


• A strong understanding of the UK planning system, with Welsh planning experience highly desirable.


• Experience managing planning applications and providing planning advice.


• The ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.


• Strong commercial awareness and a pragmatic approach to problem solving.


• MRTPI or working towards chartership would be advantageous.
