Job summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Town Planner to join our Leeds team. You will own a varied portfolio, provide expert planning advice and support the delivery of high-quality development across Leeds, West Yorkshire and the wider Yorkshire region.

You will bring strong knowledge of the UK planning system, experience in managing planning applications and appeals, and the ability to build effective relationships with clients, local authorities and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Degree or MSc in Town Planning or related field.
• MRTPI membership or progress towards chartership where appropriate.
• Significant experience in town planning with ability to manage projects independently.
• Strong understanding of UK planning legislation, policy and development management processes.
• Experience preparing and managing planning applications and providing planning advice.

Responsibilities

• Manage and deliver a diverse portfolio of planning projects across residential, commercial, mixed-use and strategic development schemes.
• Prepare, submit and manage planning applications (full, outline, reserved matters, discharge of conditions).
• Undertake planning appraisals and feasibility assessments; identify opportunities/constraints.
• Provide commercially focussed planning advice to clients, developers, landowners and stakeholders.
• Prepare planning statements, reports, representations and appeal documentation.
• Liaise with local planning authorities to negotiate outcomes.
• Monitor changes to national/local policy and plans.
• Manage project programmes, budgets and client expectations.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and attend client meetings and site visits.
• Support business development and mentor junior planners.
