Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is seeking a Senior Town Planner to join our Bristol team. You will provide commercially focused planning advice across Residential, Retail, Healthcare, Automotive & Roadside and Commercial sectors, manage applications and support business development.

The successful candidate will have Chartered RTPI membership or be on the path to chartership, strong knowledge of the UK planning system, and excellent communication skills. Hybrid working and competitive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Chartered RTPI membership or working towards full chartership.
• Strong knowledge of the UK planning system, legislation and procedures.
• Experience in planning consultancy environments.
• Experience with planning applications, appeals and pre-application advice.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to develop clear planning arguments and communicate confidently.
• Strong organisational skills to manage multiple projects.
• Commercial mindset for client management and business development.
• Commitment to continuing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Provide commercially focused planning advice to a diverse client base.
• Manage and progress planning applications, appeals and pre-application submissions.
• Prepare initial planning appraisals and provide strategic planning advice.
• Liaise with clients, authorities, consultees and stakeholders.
• Undertake site visits and attend client/project meetings.
• Attend planning committees and public consultation events when required.
• Prepare high-quality planning reports and interpret data.
• Manage projects within deadlines, budgets and instructions.
• Support business development through networking and client engagement.
