Job summary

• Manage a diverse portfolio of planning projects from inception to delivery.

• Monitor planning applications and manage projects through the planning process.
• Liaise with local planning authorities, consultees, clients and stakeholders.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Town Planner to join a growing planning team in Suffolk.

This is an exciting opportunity for a planner looking to take the next step in their career, with the chance to work across a varied portfolio of projects spanning residential, infrastructure and renewable energy.

You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of your own projects, work closely with clients and stakeholders, and play a key role in delivering high-quality planning solutions across a diverse range of schemes.

Key responsibilities

• Managing a diverse portfolio of planning projects from inception through to delivery.
• Preparing and submitting planning applications and supporting documentation.
• Providing high-quality planning advice to clients and project teams.
• Working across residential, infrastructure and renewable energy projects.
• Undertaking planning research and assessing development proposals against relevant planning policy.
• Liaising with local planning authorities, consultees, clients and other stakeholders.
• Supporting the preparation of planning strategies for complex projects.
• Monitoring planning applications and managing projects through the planning process.
• Attending meetings, site visits and stakeholder consultations.
• Managing project deadlines, budgets and client expectations.
• Supporting junior members of the planning team and contributing to their development.
• Keeping up to date with changes in planning policy, legislation and industry best practice.

About you

We’re looking for a Senior Town Planner with strong commercial awareness, excellent communication skills and a genuine interest in delivering successful development projects.

You’ll ideally have:

• Relevant experience within town planning, either consultancy or a client-side environment.
• Experience managing planning applications and projects independently.
• A good understanding of the UK planning system and relevant planning policy.
• Experience across one or more of the following sectors: residential, infrastructure, renewable energy or strategic land.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and project management abilities.The confidence to build relationships with clients, authorities and wider project teams.
• A proactive approach and the ambition to progress within your career.
• MRTPI or working towards chartership would be advantageous.
