Job summary

Project Start Recruitment Solutions Limited is seeking a hands-on Development Engineer with a welding background to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business in Yate. The role is workshop-based and focused on manual machining and toolmaking rather than CNC operation.

You will carry out engineering tasks using manual machinery, read drawings, and support aerospace/automotive standards. Training is provided and a long-term role with stability is offered.

Qualifications

• Hands-on engineering experience in toolmaking or manual machining.
• Experience using manual machinery.
• Able to read technical drawings.
• Comfortable with aerospace or automotive standards.
• Practical, methodical and problem solver.
• Reliable with long‑term employment.
• Previous welding experience not required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out hands-on engineering and workshop activities.
• Use manual machinery and engineering hand tools.
• Identify and solve engineering problems on the shop floor.
• Read and interpret basic technical drawings.
• Work to aerospace and/or automotive standards and specifications.
• Support the wider engineering and production team with technical issues.
• Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy and safety.
