Job summary

Scantec is seeking a Senior Tooling Design Engineer for a Derby site-based role with SC Clearance or eligibility. You will design tooling, jigs, fixtures and mechanical components to meet customer requirements, produce outline and detailed concepts, and manage design lifecycles from concept through detail.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Senior Design Engineer or Mechanical Design Engineer role.
• Strong background in valves, pressure vessels, structural design, tooling, or lifting equipment.
• Proven experience delivering mechanical engineering projects.
• Knowledge of design codes, standards, and safety legislation.
• Ability to manage full design project lifecycles.
• Experience with 3D CAD (Siemens NX or similar).
• Experience using PLM systems (Teamcentre or similar).
• Familiarity with engineering analysis tools (MathCAD, ANSYS, ABAQUS).
• SC Clearance or eligibility to obtain it.
• Experience mentoring team members.

• Identify and resolve engineering challenges with technical solutions.
• Evaluate performance, reliability, and safety of designs.
• Modify and refine designs to meet project and customer requirements.

• Manage engineering risk and opportunity through the project lifecycle.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, and design documentation.
• Support continuous improvement and development of new engineering methods.
• Collaborate with internal teams and mentor junior engineers.
