Job summary

Lockheed Martin Ampthill site is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Tooling) to craft tooling, dies, gauges, jigs and fixtures for production and prototype use. You will utilize CREO and Windchill to deliver robust tooling solutions, supporting lifecycle design from concept through to production.

In this role you will reduce manufacturing costs, improve yield, and drive continuous improvement across the program.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Manufacturing technologies.
• Strong communication skills to influence across levels.
• Independent thinker who enforces quality and customer requirements.
• Experience in design and manufacturing processes.
• Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma knowledge.
• Understanding of GD&T and datum structures.
• Familiar with CREO to generate technical drawings.
• Experience in preparing operational documentation and data packs.
• Ability to drive change in process and culture.
• Awareness of DFM/A and PFMEA in Industrial Engineering.
• Strong analytical skills and personal accountability.

Responsibilities

• Develop tooling and fixtures for production, testing, and prototypes.
• Coordinate with Industrial and Production Engineering across projects.
• Create and maintain technical specifications and manufacturing data packs.
• Support capital planning from definition to acceptance.
• Participate in customer and programme meetings to align requirements.
• Drive right-first-time quality and cost reduction initiatives.
