Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Ampthill, Bedfordshire, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Tooling) to design, develop and implement tooling, dies, gauges, jigs, fixtures, and attachments for production and experiments. You will use CREO/Windchill and influence cost, yield and quality across the product lifecycle.

Applicants must achieve SC level security clearance and be onsite full-time Mon–Thu. The role focuses on right-first-time quality and cross-functional collaboration to support LMUK

Qualifications

• Knowledge of manufacturing technologies and design for production.
• Strong communication skills across internal/external audiences.
• Independent thinker with a focus on quality and customer needs.
• Experience in design and manufacturing processes within industry.
• Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma and quality toolsets.
• Understanding of GD&T and datum structures.
• Proficient use of CREO for technical drawings.
• Experience producing operational documentation and data packs.
• Ability to drive change in processes, behaviour and culture.
• Awareness of DFM/A and PFMEA in industrial engineering.

Responsibilities

• Develop manufacturing tooling across assembly, machining, composites, or additive tech.
• Design new tooling and fixturing requirements.
• Create Technical Requirement Specifications.
• Create detailed process instructions and manufacturing BOMs.
• Participate in customer and programme meetings.
• Support capital plan requirements from definition to acceptance.
• Assist with production of products aligned to Ampthill business needs.
• Collaborate with Industrial, Production Engineering and other functions.
• Support business process reviews and documentation updates.
