Job summary
Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Tissue Viability Nurse to lead expert wound care across Oxfordshire in a community setting, working with a dedicated multidisciplinary team.
You will develop tissue viability practice, mentor staff, contribute to education and research, and help advance care closer to patients’ homes while supporting quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Current UK nursing registration (RGN).
- Educated to degree level with willingness to study at level 7.
- Teaching qualification or equivalent experience/skills.
- Evidence of ongoing professional and education development.
- Experience in tissue viability/wound care within clinical settings.
Responsibilities
- Provide tissue viability advice and clinical support to clinicians across the service.
- Lead and shape tissue viability practice, including education and clinical leadership.
- Contribute to quality improvement, audit, and service development efforts.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality care closer to patients’ homes.

We are a friendly, enthusiastic and dedicated Tissue Viability Team and are excited to welcome a Senior Tissue Viability Nurse to join us. This is a varied and rewarding community-based role, offering the opportunity to develop your specialist tissue viability skills while working alongside an experienced and supportive team. No two days are quite the same. Our service works across the community, providing specialist advice and support to clinicians caring for people with complex wound and tissue viability needs. You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with a wide range of professionals, share your expertise through education and clinical support and help teams deliver high-quality, evidence-based care closer to patients' homes. The role also provides opportunities to contribute to quality improvement, innovation, education, research and the ongoing development of our tissue viability service. We are looking for someone who shares our enthusiasm for improving wound care, enjoys working collaboratively and is keen to develop as a specialist practitioner and leader. - Educated to degree level, with willingness to study at level 7 and/or undertake additional specialist learning appropriate for the role
- Teaching qualification i.e. City and Guilds 730, ENB 998 or relevant experience and skills
- Evidence of ongoing professional and education development
- Formal additional qualifications/training, or evidence and level 7
- Current and competent practitioner
- Demonstrable leadership skills
- Ability to work therapeutically with older people
- Excellent coordinator, facilitator, educator and written and verbal communicator
- Well organised
- Good time management
- Ability to work strategically in the ongoing development of the service
- Research skills (or ability to critically analyse evidence)
- Active member of Tissue Viability Link/Resource Nurse group
- Leadership qualities and experience of leading/managing staff
- Wide portfolio of relevant experience/achievements relating to wound healing
- Experience of multi-agency and partnership working
- Has managed change and practice development
- Experience of facilitating learning
- Actively involved in tissue viability project (i.e. product evaluations, wound formulary etc.)
- Project management
- Experience of working within a tissue viability team
- Experience of working in a leg ulcer clinic or wound clinic
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Proactive and innovative
- Motivation and enthusiasm
- Commitment to delivering and facilitating high standards of patient care
- Ability to travel independently between sites and to regional meetings
- To be flexible with work hours to suit the needs of the service
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults
- Ability to attend conferences to update their knowledge base
