Job summary

Colchester-based technology firm is seeking a Senior Thermal Mechanical Engineer to lead end-to-end thermal design for complex electromechanical products. You’ll own the thermal performance from requirements through prototype build, testing and production support.

The role is hands-on, with responsibilities across thermal analysis, lab testing and collaboration with PMs, hardware, software and manufacturing teams. BPSS screening and SC clearance eligibility apply.

Qualifications

• Hands-on, end-to-end role owning thermal performance.
• Experience reviewing requirements and participating in system architecture discussions.
• Prototyping, testing and production support.
• 5–10 years practical industry experience.
• Experience with suppliers and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing requirements and contributing to early system architecture discussions.
• Running detailed structural and thermal analysis (SolidWorks + Flow Simulation preferred).
• Presenting work at preliminary and critical design reviews.
• Managing projects independently while collaborating with PMs, hardware, software and manufacturing teams.
• Investigating production issues, quality problems and root causes under time pressure.
• Building, testing and debugging prototypes in the lab.
• Designing jigs, fixtures and producing assembly drawings with correct GD&T.
• Supporting new product introduction and exploring new thermal technologies (heat pipes, vapour chambers, advanced TIMs).
