Job summary

ALTEN in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Thermal Systems Design Engineer to join our engineering team in the aerospace sector, focusing on thermal management for electric propulsion products including EPUs and motors.

The role covers design, analysis, testing, and documentation, with a strong emphasis on CFD/thermal simulations, manufacturability, and collaboration with suppliers and customers; Hybrid working model and on-site presence in Bicester.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering or equivalent
• 5–15 years experience delivering thermal design solutions
• Experience with CFD/thermal analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS Fluent)
• Experience in electric propulsion, aerospace, or electrification sectors

Responsibilities

• Own the thermal system design for electric propulsion products
• Develop thermal management solutions for motors, power electronics, EPUs
• Analyse and optimise sealed liquid cooling systems and airflow management
• Perform thermal/CFD simulations to support development
• Validate results with real-world conditions and provide recommendations
• Produce technical specifications and documentation
