Job summary

The Birmingham Children's Hospital Therapies Department is seeking an experienced Senior Therapy Assistant to support the team with patient treatment and administration. This role requires a proactive, well-motivated individual who can work with families and young people and collaborate with ward staff and procurement.

The successful candidate will have a Foundation Degree or equivalent qualification, be able to use Microsoft Office, and have care-setting experience.

Qualifications

  • Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care or BTEC Professional Development Qualification for Support Workers (or NVQ level 3)
  • Relevant experience as Healthcare support worker in Therapy or other AHP department
  • General education level to GCSE or equivalent
  • Evidence of Literacy and Numeracy to Level 2

Responsibilities

  • Undertake treatment of patients as selected by a qualified therapist and trained in the procedure
  • Keep therapy colleagues and other staff informed of progress with patients and other delegated tasks
  • Undertake therapy procedures and related tasks as delegated by the qualified therapist and in line with Trust policies
  • Communicate and cooperate with patients, carers and other professionals in sensitive environments
  • Undertake departmental duties including clerical and administration tasks, stock maintenance, housekeeping
  • Ensure therapy equipment and facilities are ready for use and comply with Health and Safety regulations
