Job summary

The Beardwood Hospital, part of Circle Health Group, is seeking a Lead Theatre Practitioner to join the theatre team in Blackburn. This full-time role covers 37.5 hours per week with flexible shift patterns and a salary of up to £47,000 per year.

You will lead perioperative care, ensure safety checks, supervise staff, develop competencies, and advocate for patients throughout the perioperative pathway.

Qualifications

• NMC or HCPC registered practitioner with theatre experience.
• Demonstrated clinical leadership experience.
• Strong understanding of patient safety, safeguarding, infection control and governance.
• Scrub practitioner or Surgical First Assistant qualification for scrub leads.
• ENB 998 and/or mentorship course.
• Approved/recognised anaesthetic course.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of high-quality, patient-centred perioperative care.
• Ensure WHO safety checks are performed per policy.
• Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision for theatre staff.
• Support development and assessment of team competencies.
• Advocate for patients' rights, safety and dignity.
• Raise concerns when standards or safeguarding are not met.
