Job summary

Circle Health Group is seeking a Lead Theatre Practitioner for Recovery & Anaesthetics at The Beardwood Hospital. This 37.5-hour-per-week role offers a salary up to £47,000 with permanent status. You will lead the theatre team, ensure safety checks and WHO processes, and drive professional development and patient advocacy.

The role requires strong clinical leadership, an NMC/HCPC registration, and qualifications for scrub leads. Experience in a theatre setting is essential.

Qualifications

• NMC or HCPC registered practitioner with significant theatre experience (Recovery & Anaesthetics).
• Evidence of clinical leadership and ability to mentor peers.
• Strong understanding of patient safety protocols, safeguarding, infection control and governance.
• Scrub Practitioner or Surgical First Assistant qualification for scrub leads.
• ENB 998 and/or mentorship course.
• Approved/recognised anaesthetic course.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care across the perioperative pathway, acting as a specialist or functional lead within the team.
• Ensure that all patient safety checks, including WHO surgical safety processes, are carried out in accordance with hospital policy.
• Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision for theatre practitioners and support staff, fostering a culture of professionalism, compassion, and accountability.
• Support the development and assessment of competencies within the team, promoting continuous professional development.
• Act as an advocate for patients, ensuring their rights, safety, and dignity are upheld at all times.
• Raise concerns where standards of care or safeguarding protocols are not met, in line with Circle Health Group policy.
