Job summary

Matchtech is recruiting a Senior Test Solutions Engineer for an onsite contract in Basildon. You will support design, development and testing of electro-optical test equipment for precision guidance products, through development to production stages.

The role requires SC clearance (BPSS possible) and is inside IR35 at £60 per hour. Key duties include defining test strategies, commissioning test systems, integration and validation, and hands-on laboratory testing with electro-optical

Qualifications

• HND or higher qualification in System, Electrical, Electronic, or related engineering.
• Experience in Electrical testing, Electro-optics, Environmental testing or acoustic testing.
• Practical experience with lab-based testing, diagnostics and measurement.

Responsibilities

• Interpreting product-level test requirements to support test strategies and systems.
• Supporting design and commissioning of test systems used in development and production.
• Participating in integration, verification and validation of test solutions.
• Performing hands-on laboratory testing and measurement using electro-optical instrumentation.
• Writing and reviewing technical documentation including test procedures and user instructions.
• Working with hardware, software, optical and systems engineers to deliver products and test systems.

Senior Test Solutions Engineer - 1760

Onsite in Basildon

Intially until 27/01/27 (might be extended)

£60ph, UMB inside IR35

SC required, can start on BPSS clearance

Our client, a leading name in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a Senior Test Solutions Engineer to join their team on a contract basis in Basildon. This role involves supporting the design, development, and ongoing support of electro-optical test equipment and test processes for Leonardo's range of Precision Guidance products, through the development to production stages.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpreting product-level test requirements to support the definition and implementation of test strategies and systems
• Supporting the design and commissioning of test systems used in development and production
• Participating in the integration, verification, and validation of test solutions
• Performing hands-on laboratory testing and measurement using electro-optical instrumentation
• Writing and reviewing technical documentation including test procedures and user instructions
• Working closely with cross-disciplinary teams (hardware, software, optical and systems engineers) to ensure successful product and test system delivery

Job Requirements:

• HND or higher qualification in System, Electrical, Electronic, or related engineering discipline
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: Electrical testing, Electro-optics, Environmental testing, acoustic testing
• Practical experience with lab-based testing, diagnostics, and measurement
• Good understanding of test instrumentation and data analysis
• Ability to follow and contribute to structured engineering processes
• Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively within a team

Desirable:

• Experience with test software tools (e.g. LabVIEW, MATLAB or similar)
• Soldering Experience
• Knowledge of mechanical design and STTE
• Understanding and knowledge of using industry standard ECAD tools
• Awareness of environmental effects on hardware performance
