Job summary

Pertemps is seeking a Senior Temporary Works Design Engineer in Central London to lead design and assessment of temporary works across prestigious UK projects. You will guide a team, ensure compliance with Eurocodes and BS standards, and liaise with site teams and stakeholders to deliver safe, economical solutions.

The role requires 8+ years in temporary works design, a Civil/Structural degree, and Chartered status or progress toward it.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in temporary works design.
• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
• Chartered or working towards Chartered status with a relevant professional institution (ICE or IStructE).
• Strong understanding of Eurocodes, British Standards, and temporary works procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and assessment of temporary works, including falsework, formwork, access platforms, propping, hoardings, excavation support, and crane bases.
• Oversee a team producing detailed design calculations, drawings, and technical documentation in accordance with current codes, standards, and project requirements.
• Liaise with site teams, project engineers, and external stakeholders to develop safe, practical, and economical solutions.
• Undertake site visits and inspections to monitor the implementation of temporary works and provide technical support during construction.
• Manage the approval process for temporary works, including preparation and presentation of design briefs and design risk assessments.
• Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, health and safety legislation, and relevant quality assurance procedures.
• Assist in the development of standard temporary works solutions and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Mentor and support more junior engineers and technicians as required.
